William de Say

It has been suggested that the family derived its name from Sai, about two miles SE of Argentan in Normandy, though there is no substantial evidence for this. Certainly William de Say, possibly a Norman, married by 1098 Agnes, daughter of Hugh de Grandmesnil.

William married Agnes de Grandmesnil, daughter of Baron Hugh de Grandmesnil and Adeliza Beaumont-sur-l'Oise, circa 1098.
